I arrived in Orlando, FL a few hours ago to live-blog the Global Church Advancement Conference. Since there are a number of parallel sessions throughout the week, the conference organizers have asked me to post on specific sessions. Tomorrow I'll be posting on the opening session by Steve Childers on the importance of grasping God's vision for His kingdom as a church planter. Later I'll post on a session by Scotty Smith called Learning to Lead with Gospel Astonishment. And in the evening I'll post on a session by Drew Goodsmanson called The Internet & The Sovereignty of God. Here's a … [Read more...] about Global Church Advancement Conference – I

Do Hard Things – The Rebelution
Alex and Brett Harris recently sent me a copy of their manuscript with a request that I consider adding an endorsement. I was honored by the request and glad to add a few good words about this excellent book. My endorsement:"In a culture of low expectations, non-stop entertainment and short attention spans, teenagers Alex and Brett Harris provide a voice of reason and a stirring exhortation to productive action in the name of Christ. As a university professor, I am not unaware of the Gen Y propensity to demand more recognition for less effort and to associate self-esteem with mere being … [Read more...] about Do Hard Things – The Rebelution

Satellites v. Church Plants
Ever wonder why so many churches today are going to satellite campuses as they get larger? Michael Mckinley writes a helpful post on the pros/cons of satellite campuses versus church planting: The benefits of the church plants are obvious: more intimate community, more direct shepherding, more opportunities for men to grow into leadership, more locations mean more gospel presences in more communities. The downsides are also obvious... what if those other four churches don't exactly stay on message? What if they don't give to missions or preach the Word or do whatever thing is most important … [Read more...] about Satellites v. Church Plants
Mike Huckabee On Roe v. Wade Anniversary
Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee posted these reflections today: Today is the 35th anniversary of a great American tragedy, the Roe vs. Wade court decision that has led to the loss of millions of innocent lives. These children were denied the right to life our Constitution grants to everyone in America, only because they had yet to emerge from their mother’s womb. As President Bush noted today, America is better than this. I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. As president, I will fight for passage of this amendment. My … [Read more...] about Mike Huckabee On Roe v. Wade Anniversary
35th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade
On Jan 22, 1973, activist judges in the U.S. Supreme Court decided that human fetuses were the property of their mothers, to be disposed in any manner she chooses. I am posting some thoughts and reposting a video (below) in the hope that we can together work and pray to remove this scourge from our country. First, I think it is helpful to compare abortion to slavery. William Wilberforce, in his fight to end the slave trade, made these remarks: "Never, never will we desist till we ... extinguish every trace of this bloody traffic, of which our posterity, looking back to the history of these … [Read more...] about 35th Anniversary of Roe v.
