A debate between Dr. Richard Vedder (Ohio University) and Dr. Robert Archibald (College of William and Mary) held at the University of Vermont on March 21, 2012. It runs about 40 minutes in length (20 minutes each), followed by about 30 minutes of Q&A. A synopsis:In considering the relationship between aid and costs, the debaters found little to agree on. According to aid opponent Richard Vedder, distinguished professor of economics at Ohio University, the explosion in federal aid that began in the 1970s has not only not increased access for low income students, it’s led to rising … [Read more...] about Does federal financial aid increase or decrease higher ed costs?

1 In 2 New Graduates Are Jobless Or Underemployed
Not an encouraging report from the Associated Press: The college class of 2012 is in for a rude welcome to the world of work. You've got to do this … [Read more...] about Owen Strachan Interviews Eugene Peterson
Pray for Chuck Colson who will “soon be home with the Lord”
Jim Liske, CEO of Prison Fellowship Ministries, gave the following update this morning to the staff and supporters of Prison Fellowship, Justice Fellowship, and the Colson Center for Christian Worldview: Dear Friends: It is with a heavy, but hopeful heart that I share with you that it appears our friend, brother, and founder will soon be home with the Lord. Chuck’s condition took a decided turn yesterday, and the doctors advised Patty and the family to gather by his bedside. As you know, Chuck underwent surgery more than two weeks ago to remove a pool of clotted blood on the surface of … [Read more...] about Pray for Chuck Colson who will “soon be home with the Lord”
The Explicit Gospel: Matt Chandler
Matt Chandler's new book The Explicit Gospel is available until April 25 at 53% off --- $8.50/copy -- at WTS Books. Every attendee at Together for the Gospel (T4G) 2012 was given a complementary copy of this book, and Matt gave a message that addressed one of the themes in this book. Here's what some are saying: "That the gospel is not clearly taught in classic liberalism is disheartening but not surprising. That frequently the gospel is not taught in evangelical congregations is both disquieting and surprising. Evangelicals will not deny the gospel, but they may assume it while talking … [Read more...] about The Explicit Gospel: Matt Chandler
